32 year old shot to death at a hotel On a Sunday in New Orleans, November 6, 2016, the life of 32-year-old Dontreal Eleby, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. Authorities received a call about a man shot inside a hotel and responded to the 12000 block of the South I-10 Service Road. There, in a first-floor hallway, they discovered Dontreal on the floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Eleby, a father to one daughter, was deeply loved by his large family.
He left behind his mother, four sisters, and five brothers. His sudden death left his family and his devoted companion heartbroken. His funeral service was held the following Saturday, where he was laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In the years that have passed since Dontreal Eleby's death, his case has remained open. Investigators have continued to search for possible suspects and a motive for the shooting.
