In the early morning hours of a summer day in the Bronx, a dispute tragically cut short the life of 28-year-old Jordan Rodriguez. On July 31, 2021, at approximately 3:14 a.m., an argument broke out near the corner of 3rd Avenue and East 163rd Street in the Melrose neighborhood. The disagreement escalated, and an unknown individual shot Rodriguez in the back.
The shooter fled the scene on foot, heading north along 3rd Avenue.
Officers from the 42nd Precinct responded to a 911 call about an assault and discovered the wounded Rodriguez. Emergency medical services rushed him to Lincoln Hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
While Rodriguez was from the New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island, his life ended in the Bronx. The motive for the argument that led to the fatal shooting remains unknown to law enforcement.
In the aftermath, police described the suspect as a dark-skinned male in his mid-20s, approximately 5'11' tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He had black hair in short braids and was last seen wearing light-colored jeans, a dark hoodie, and white sneakers. Despite the release of the suspect's description, no arrests have been made in the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
