On July 2, 2022, Melvin Ureña, a 19-year-old resident of the Bronx, New York, tragically lost his life in a violent incident. Melvin, who had moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic with his father four years prior in search of a better life, was shot in the head during a shootout on East 156th Street and Melrose Avenue.
