Father of 3 found lying on sidewalk
In the early morning hours of April 5, 2017, the life of Wilfred Bell, a 37-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. Known to his family and friends as a funny and kind individual, Bell was a father to three children. His death marked the city's 54th homicide of the year.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., authorities received a call about a man down near the intersection of Marais and Andry streets. Upon their arrival, they discovered Bell lying on the sidewalk, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Despite the passage of time, no arrests have been made in connection with Wilfred Bell's murder. Investigators have yet to publicly identify any suspects or establish a motive for the shooting.
