Father of 3 found lying on sidewalk
On April 5, 2017, Wilfred Bell, age 37, became the 54th murder victim in New Orleans for that year. Bell, described as a caring father of three who was known for his kindness, was found by police early that morning in the Lower Ninth Ward. Around 3:30 a.m., authorities responded to reports of a man lying on the sidewalk near the intersections of Marais and Andry streets. When they arrived, they found Bell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
