In the late hours of an autumn evening in Brooklyn, New York, a young man’s life was cut short by gunfire. Filip Czerwczak, a 29-year-old male, was discovered in the lobby of his apartment building on Ocean Parkway in the Gravesend neighborhood on November 3, 2022. He had sustained gunshot wounds to his torso.
Responding to a call at approximately 10:30 p.m., police found Czerwczak in a critical state.
Emergency medical personnel rushed him to Maimonides Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Adding a layer of complexity to the unfolding investigation, sources indicated that Czerwczak was found wearing a ski mask and was in possession of a gun.
Investigators believe that the shooting may have been the result of a robbery gone awry, with the possibility that Czerwczak himself was attempting to rob an armed individual.
