Prem Kumar Walekar, a 54-year-old part-time taxi driver, was tragically killed on October 3, 2002, in Aspen Hill, Maryland. He was one of the victims of the infamous D.C. Beltway Sniper attacks. On that fateful morning, Walekar was at a Mobil gas station, filling up his taxi when he was shot and killed by a single bullet. This incident was part of a series of coordinated sniper attacks that terrorized the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas over a three-week period in October 2002.
