On January 23, 2006, 22-year-old Roland Foday Tombekai Burphy Jr. was fatally shot in his apartment located in the 5300 block of 85th Avenue in New Carrollton, Maryland. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m., and initial reports mistakenly referred to him as Ronald Burphy Jr.
