Alusine Kargbo, a 23-year-old resident of Lanham, Maryland, tragically lost his life on May 31, 2011, in New Carrollton. Kargbo was playing basketball at Carrollton Elementary School, located on the 8300 block of Quintana Street, when he was shot. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. when a 17-year-old named Savon Blanchard approached the basketball court and opened fire. Kargbo was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
