In a quiet Temple Hills, Maryland neighborhood, a tragedy unfolded, revealing the devastating pressures that can accompany declining health and caregiving. On March 12, 2014, police were called to the 5500 block of Winston Street for a welfare check. Inside the home, they discovered the bodies of 72-year-old Virginia Velasco and her husband, 72-year-old Armando Velasco. Both had suffered from apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
