On June 3, 2014, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Prince George's County police responded to a welfare check at the Ramada Inn located at 9100 Baltimore Avenue in College Park, Maryland. Upon arrival, officers discovered 25-year-old Catina Cortes deceased in a second-floor hotel room, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
