In the summer of 2015, a neighborhood dispute over a parking spot in Edgemere, Maryland, escalated into a tragic event that left two people dead. On July 29th, 49-year-old Robin Maureen Hasenei and her 47-year-old husband, William Lee Hasenei, were found deceased in their home on Shore Road from apparent gunshot wounds. The discovery was made by Baltimore County police officers who were arriving at the residence to arrest William Hasenei in connection with an incident that had occurred the
previous day.
The conflict began when a man parked his car near a private pier. An argument ensued between the man and Robin Hasenei, who accused him of blocking her driveway. William Hasenei then came out of their house and allegedly threatened the man with a handgun, reportedly saying, 'You are lucky I don't blow your brains out.' Police were called to the scene and, due to William's extensive medical issues, he was not arrested at that time, though a number of his guns were confiscated.
The following day, as police returned to the Hasenei's home to serve an arrest warrant for charges that would have included first-degree assault and use of a firearm, they heard two gunshots from within the house. Upon entering, they discovered the bodies of both Robin and William Hasenei in their bedroom.
Investigators began treating the case as a murder-suicide. At the time, it was not immediately clear who was the perpetrator and who was the victim in the final, fatal moments. Autopsies were scheduled to be performed to help clarify the sequence of events. The incident left the quiet neighborhood in shock, with neighbors expressing their disbelief at how a dispute over parking could have led to such a violent and tragic conclusion.
