In the late evening hours of August 27, 2016, a tragic event unfolded on Cliftview Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland, leading to the death of 23-year-old Tykim Maurice Fisher. Fisher, a male, was sitting on the front steps of his home with friends when the fatal encounter occurred.
An individual named Adrian Brown was identified as the suspect in the shooting.
The investigation led to Brown's arrest and he was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a disqualified person.
Adrian Brown faced a jury trial for his alleged involvement in Tykim Fisher's death. In the initial trial, the jury acquitted him of first-degree murder but convicted him of possession of a firearm. However, the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict on the charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or crime of violence.
Following the hung jury on the remaining charges, a retrial was conducted. In the second trial, the jury found Adrian Brown guilty of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or crime of violence. Subsequently, the court sentenced Brown to a term of 30 years' imprisonment for the second-degree murder conviction, with a consecutive sentence of twenty years for the firearm offense. He also received a concurrent five-year sentence for the firearm possession charge from the first trial.
