In the winter of 2017, a young man's life was cut short in a fatal shooting in Montgomery Village, Maryland. Wassi Herron Raheem Young, a 20-year-old male from Hyattsville, was found deceased in a parking lot on Hawk Run Terrace on the afternoon of February 10th. Police had responded to the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting and discovered Young suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location.
Investigators believe the shooting was not a random act and that Young had arranged to meet his assailants at the location where he was ultimately killed.
The investigation into the death of Wassi Herron Raheem Young led to the identification and arrest of three suspects. In early March of that year, authorities apprehended Samuel Fayomi Brown, 20, of Hyattsville, and Tierek Ty Jay Thomas, 20, of Washington, D.C. They were taken into custody at separate locations in Prince George's County. Both men were subsequently charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. It was also determined that another individual, a 23-year-old man, had been shot and injured during the same incident that resulted in Young's death.
Later in March, a third suspect was arrested in connection with the homicide. Davion Antonio Foster, 20, of Southeast Washington, D.C., was apprehended in Tysons Corner, Virginia, on a Montgomery County arrest warrant. Foster faced the same charges as the other two suspects: first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Following his arrest, he was held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center to await extradition to Montgomery County.
