Iyanna Watkins, a 13-year-old girl from Middle River, Maryland, tragically lost her life on August 1, 2017, due to a shooting incident. The incident occurred just before midnight on July 31, 2017, when Iyanna and a group of people were sitting behind a 7-Eleven store on Peterson Road. The group was targeted by gunmen who opened fire, resulting in Iyanna being struck multiple times in both her upper and lower body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
