On an autumn evening in Baltimore, the life of 35-year-old Melvin Ford was cut short in a violent encounter inside a corner store. On October 27, 2017, Ford was fatally shot, becoming another victim of the city's ongoing gun violence. The male victim's death, however, was immediately followed by a dramatic turn of events involving the alleged assailant.
