In the afternoon hours of May 3, 2018, emergency services responded to a call in the 2600 block of Quantico Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Kynard Maurice Butler suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Sinai Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival. At the time of his death, Kynard was a father and a graduate of Walbrook Senior High School who had also attended Catonsville Community College.
