On the night of March 28, 2019, tragedy struck in the Coldstream Homestead Montebello neighborhood of Northeast Baltimore. Lamont Green, a 17-year-old male, was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of Montpelier Street at approximately 11:28 p.m.. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Green succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The investigation into the death of Lamont Green led to a significant development a couple
of weeks later. On April 11, 2019, a 13-year-old boy turned himself into the Baltimore Police. Following his surrender, the unidentified teenager was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with Green's fatal shooting.
After his arrest, the 13-year-old suspect was taken to a Juvenile Detention Center, where he was to be held pending his trial. The motive for the shooting was not immediately released by authorities. The case highlighted the issue of youth violence in the city, with a teenager accused of taking the life of another.
