On the evening of August 27, 2019, a tragic and senseless act of violence claimed the life of 32-year-old Casey Xavier Robinson in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Robinson, a passenger in an Uber, was shot and killed along with the driver, 46-year-old Beaudouin Tchakounte, in what appeared to be a random attack. The incident unfolded on Indian Head Highway, leaving a community in shock and two families grieving their sudden loss.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting
and discovered both Robinson and Tchakounte inside the vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The subsequent investigation quickly identified a suspect: another passenger who had been picked up as part of a ride-share. This individual was 42-year-old Aaron Lanier Wilson, Jr. of Fort Washington.
Within hours of the shooting, detectives located and arrested Wilson at his home. During questioning, Wilson confessed to being inside the Uber but claimed he was high on the drug PCP at the time of the killings and had no memory of the events. Investigators found no known connection between Wilson and either of the victims, suggesting the attack was unprovoked.
Aaron Lanier Wilson, Jr. was subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder. In April 2021, Wilson pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to 80 years in prison, with 30 years of the sentence suspended. Following his release, he will be subject to five years of supervised probation.
