In the early morning hours of December 15, 2019, the quiet of a Middle River, Maryland neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunshots. Eighteen-year-old Antonio Hudgins, a male resident of the community, was outside his home on South Hawthorne Road with his dog when he was fatally shot. Responding to a call around 1:53 a.m., Baltimore County Police officers discovered Hudgins suffering from significant trauma to his body.
Despite the immediate response from medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation by homicide detectives sought to piece together the events that led to the tragic end of a young life. Neighbors reported hearing approximately three loud 'pops,' and one resident recalled hearing someone yelling about needing their keys and the slamming of a screen door shortly before emergency services descended on the block. In the days following the incident, a memorial in the shape of an 'A' was placed at the location where Hudgins had fallen, a somber tribute from his grieving family.
As the investigation unfolded, the Baltimore County Police Department urged the public to come forward with any information that might lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Antonio Hudgins' death.
