In the spring of 2020, the life of 18-year-old Gary Isiah Williams was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. On the evening of April 1st, Williams was in the 4700 block of Yellowwood Avenue when he was shot. He was rushed to a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his upper body and underwent surgery, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and died.
Months later, in October 2020, Baltimore Police announced a significant development in the investigation into Williams'
death. Detectives identified 22-year-old Chance Taylor as a suspect and obtained a search warrant. Taylor, residing in the 800 block of Showell Court, was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Gary Williams.
Following his arrest, Chance Taylor was taken to Central Booking to face the charges brought against him. He was ordered to be held without bail as the legal proceedings in the case commenced. The arrest brought a measure of progress for a family and community seeking answers in the wake of a young life lost to gun violence.
