In the quiet town of Damascus, Maryland, a domestic dispute on July 21, 2020, escalated into a tragedy that ended the life of 46-year-old Macklin Jimenez, a male civilian employee of the Metropolitan Police Department. The fatal encounter occurred in the basement of his family's home on Gue Road, a space that also served as the bedroom for his son.
That morning, a heated verbal argument erupted between Macklin, his wife, and their 24-year-old son, Jesse Jimenez.
The disagreement intensified, drawing in Jesse's sister. As the four family members gathered in Jesse's basement bedroom, the argument took a horrifying turn. Jesse Jimenez allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired, fatally wounding his father. After the shooting, he fled the scene in his vehicle, leaving his family to grapple with the shocking violence that had just unfolded.
Law enforcement was quickly alerted, with two calls from inside the residence reporting the shooting to 911 dispatchers at approximately 10:57 a.m. Responding officers from the Montgomery County Police Department's Fifth District arrived to find Macklin Jimenez deceased in the basement bedroom from a gunshot wound. An immediate lookout was broadcast for Jesse Jimenez and his vehicle.
The search for Jesse was brief. At around 11:13 a.m., an officer spotted his vehicle in the Spencerville area. A police pursuit ensued when Jesse refused to stop. He eventually abandoned his car and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by officers in a wooded area. A handgun was recovered at the time of his arrest. Following the chase, Jesse Jimenez was taken into custody and subsequently charged with the first-degree murder of his father.
