On the evening of October 27, 2020, Andre Lamont Cox Jr., a 22-year-old male, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 3200 block of 75th Avenue in Landover, Maryland. The shooting occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Cox to a nearby hospital for his injuries. Tragically, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead a short time later.
Initial investigations by the Prince George's County police indicated that the shooting was not a random act.
The investigation into the death of Andre Lamont Cox Jr. led authorities to identify two suspects who were known to the victim. Police believe the fatal shooting stemmed from a dispute. Eighteen-year-old Tahj Vandy of Landover was arrested and taken into custody. A second suspect, 28-year-old Dayvon Gordon of Southeast, Washington D.C., was also identified. Both Vandy and Gordon were charged with first and second-degree murder.
Following the arrest of Tahj Vandy, who was held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status, the Prince George's County Police Department continued to actively search for Dayvon Gordon. In May of 2021, the department reiterated its request for the community's assistance in locating him. Authorities urged anyone with information regarding Gordon's whereabouts or the shooting to come forward and contact detectives or to leave anonymous tips through Crime Solvers.
