She was fatally shot in the chest during a dispute over a room rental at the New Eastern Motel, which she owned with her husband, Dilipbhali Ishvarbrai Patel. The incident occurred around 9 p.m., and her husband was also shot in the lower torso but survived and was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
