In the early morning hours of March 26, 2021, the life of 22-year-old Cameron Nao'n Green was tragically cut short in a hail of bullets at a South Baltimore pizzeria. Green, a male, was inside Bella Roma Pizza on Washington Boulevard when the attack occurred shortly after 1 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene, having been shot 22 times. Another man who was with Green was also shot and severely wounded but managed to escape the initial onslaught.
The investigation into the shooting
revealed a coordinated and brutal attack. According to prosecutors, a damaged, dark gray Honda Accord with no tags pulled up to the pizzeria. Five masked individuals exited the vehicle and opened fire into the establishment, unleashing a barrage of gunfire that left 63 shell casings at the scene. The gunmen then fled in the Honda Accord. The sheer violence of the act was described by a responding police officer who testified to hearing what 'sounded like machine gunfire' from several blocks away.
A significant breakthrough in the case came with the identification of a suspect, Anthony Priester. Surveillance footage showed Priester driving the Honda Accord used in the shooting. On April 1, 2021, when police executed a search warrant at Priester's home, he fled with a woman, leading to a police chase that ended in a car crash. Priester was arrested wearing the same jacket seen in the surveillance video from the night of the murder. A further search of the area along the chase route uncovered a 9mm Beretta with an extended magazine that was later linked to the shell casings found at the crime scene.
In July 2022, Anthony Priester stood trial for his role in the murder of Cameron Green. He was subsequently convicted on eight counts, including first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy, and weapons charges. In October 2022, the 30-year-old was sentenced to life in prison plus 85 years for his part in the deadly shooting.
