On a spring evening in Baltimore, 32-year-old Dayvon Mason, a dedicated sanitation worker for the city's Department of Public Works, was going about his duties. On Friday, April 23, 2021, as he and his 38-year-old colleague sat in their sanitation vehicle in the 4600 block of York Road, their shift took a tragic and violent turn. An altercation broke out with at least one individual, shattering the evening's calm with the eruption of gunfire.
