In the early spring of 2012, the life of a young Louisville man was abruptly cut short. Angelo Stone, a 21-year-old Black male, was found shot to death on March 12, 2012. The incident occurred at his new residence, apartment number 1 at 126 E. Kingston Avenue, which is part of the Americana Apartments complex located off Southside Drive. He had only been living in the apartment for a mere three days before his untimely death.
The investigation into the homicide was met with immediate
challenges. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department Homicide Unit, the brief time Stone had spent at his new home limited the amount of information they could gather from the surrounding area. With very little furniture in the apartment, it appeared that not much activity had taken place there, making it difficult for neighbors to provide any significant details that could lead to a suspect.
As of the reports available, no arrests have been made in connection with Angelo Stone's murder. Investigators were in the process of interviewing his neighbors in the hopes of uncovering any information that might shed light on the circumstances leading to his death. Police have noted that Stone had a limited criminal history, which included domestic violence and drug charges. The authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact their anonymous tipline.
Angelo, known to some as 'Koo,' was survived by his mother, Kimberly Gardner, his father, Eric Stone, two sons, Angelo Stone Jr. and Rico Stone, as well as a sister and five brothers. His family and friends were left to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a young life.
