In the early morning hours of October 7, 2021, a burst of violence inside a home on the 1700 block of North Milton Avenue in Baltimore claimed the life of Brionna Glasgow, a 26-year-old female. Police responded to a call shortly before 4:00 a.m. and discovered a grim scene. Glasgow had been shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 29-year-old man, was found with a gunshot wound to his head.
He was transported to a local hospital in grave condition but ultimately survived his injuries.
The investigation into the double shooting led to the arrests of a husband and wife, Al Brown and Bolondalay Banks. Both were charged with two counts of first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony or violent crime, as well as single counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and having a loaded handgun on their person. The prosecution's case appeared to hinge on the testimony of the surviving male victim, who identified Brown and Banks as the individuals who entered the residence armed with guns and opened fire.
Despite the serious charges, both Banks and Brown were eventually released on home detention in the latter part of 2023. Their defense attorneys argued for their release, citing a lack of substantial evidence. Banks' lawyer specifically pointed out that the only evidence against her client was the surviving victim's identification from a photo array. It was further argued that body camera footage from the night of the incident contradicted the claim that Banks was even present at the scene.
On January 9, 2024, the case took a significant turn when the prosecutor's office dismissed all charges against both Bolondalay Banks and Al Brown. The specific reasons for the dismissal were not publicly disclosed in open court. This decision brought an end to the formal legal proceedings against the couple, leaving the investigation into the death of Brionna Glasgow without a resolution and no suspects in custody.
