He was staying at his mother's house in the vicinity of Taylor Boulevard and Bicknell Avenue when an unknown individual or individuals broke in and shot him multiple times. His mother, asleep in another room, was awakened by her son's scream of the word 'no' just before the fatal gunshots rang out.
Tragically, Lewis's dog, Champ, was also killed during the home invasion.
