In the early morning hours of May 13, 2022, the life of 23-year-old Britrain Marcelus Gray was tragically cut short in a targeted shooting at the McDonald's restaurant where he worked in Gambrills, Maryland. At approximately 4:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire at the establishment on Crain Highway South. Upon arrival, they discovered the young male employee, a resident of Odenton, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the homicide suggested that it
was not a random act of violence, but rather a deliberate attack on Gray. The suspect reportedly fired into the building from the outside before fleeing the scene on foot. Three other employees were present inside the restaurant at the time and heard the commotion of shots being fired and glass breaking. The drive-thru window of the restaurant sustained visible damage during the incident.
Following a two-month-long investigation, homicide detectives identified 21-year-old Ja'quan Green of Middle River as the suspect in Britrain Gray's murder. Green was subsequently arrested and charged with the killing. At the time of his arrest for Gray's murder, Green was already being held in Prince George's County in connection with an unrelated homicide that occurred a month after Gray's death. Friends and family remembered Britrain, known as 'Train,' as a funny and hardworking individual who brought smiles to the faces of those around him.
