On the evening of June 5, 2022, a sense of normalcy was shattered in a southwest Baltimore neighborhood. Tyrone Walker, a 37-year-old male, was on South Loudon Avenue when an argument escalated into a fatal encounter. Gunshots rang out, and when police arrived at the 200 block of the street shortly before 8:30 p.m., they discovered Walker suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Walker's death led police to identify 28-year-old Dana Davenport as the primary suspect. Two months after the shooting, on August 4, 2022, members of the Baltimore Police Department located and arrested Davenport in the 1300 block of West North Avenue. He was subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and various firearm offenses in connection with the killing of Tyrone Walker.
Following his arrest, Dana Davenport was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility. The case then proceeded through the court system. During legal proceedings, it was revealed that the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Davenport and Walker. Despite maintaining his innocence, Davenport was convicted of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, and other weapons charges. On May 13, 2024, a Baltimore City Circuit Court judge sentenced Davenport to life in prison plus an additional 25 years for the murder of Tyrone Walker. While a second suspect was alleged to have been involved, they were never identified.
