Hill, a 53-year-old man with whom Jackson had a prior relationship. Just four days before the shooting, Jackson had sought and been granted a temporary peace order against Hill, expressing fear for her life. In her court filing, she detailed a history of stalking and harassment, stating that Hill had allegedly told her, 'if he can't have me, no one will.' Following the shooting, Hill fled to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was apprehended in January 2023 and extradited back to Baltimore to face charges.
Hill was charged with first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime. In September 2023, he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. During the sentencing hearing, it was revealed that Hill had followed Jackson to her car, and after an argument, he shot her multiple times before repeatedly stomping on her head. In May 2024, a judge sentenced Hill to life in prison, suspending all but 50 years.
