In the early morning hours of October 27, 2022, a tragic event unfolded in the southern district of Baltimore. Officers responded to a call for a shooting in the 3300 block of Annapolis Road. Upon their arrival at approximately 3:29 a.m., they discovered a man suffering from numerous life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 39-year-old David Rodriguez Ramirez.
Despite the immediate arrival of medics and their life-saving efforts, Ramirez was pronounced deceased at the scene. The case was quickly turned over to homicide detectives who began a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
For over a year, detectives worked to piece together the evidence and identify a suspect in the murder of David Rodriguez Ramirez. Their investigation eventually led them to 24-year-old Gerson Arita Diaz of Baltimore. On November 2, 2023, just over a year after the incident, Diaz was arrested. He was subsequently transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and formally charged with 1st-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of David Rodriguez Ramirez.
