In the quiet town of Greenwood, South Carolina, a horrific event unfolded that would leave an indelible mark on the community. On September 26, 1988, a gunman entered Oakland Elementary School and opened fire in a cafeteria and a third-grade classroom. Among the victims was eight-year-old Tequila Thomas, a bright and quiet third-grader who was in a reading group with her teacher when the gunman entered her classroom.
