Marvin Leroy Titus, a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper, tragically lost his life on November 21, 1991, in Bamberg County, South Carolina. Trooper Titus was on duty when he pursued a stolen vehicle. The chase ended when the suspect, Bernard Stacy Jackson, ran off the roadway. A confrontation ensued between Trooper Titus and Jackson, during which Jackson managed to seize Trooper Titus's weapon and shot him three times.
