On a summer evening in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the life of 31-year-old Jason Andrew Lockamy was tragically cut short in a violent act that also claimed the lives of his mother and girlfriend. On Sunday, July 5, 2015, Jason, his mother, Anna Hubbard Moore, 50, and his girlfriend, Lora Kathryn Young, 31, were found shot to death at a home on Dunlap Roddey Road.
The person responsible for the triple homicide was determined to be Jason's stepfather, 55-year-old Randy Eugene Moore, who then took his own life.
Investigations by the York County Sheriff's Office revealed a grim sequence of events. Randy Moore used a. 40-caliber handgun, which belonged to his wife, Anna, to carry out the killings. It is believed that he first shot his wife inside their home. He then went outside and shot Jason and Lora before returning inside to commit suicide. The bodies were discovered by a friend who had been invited to the home for a cookout. Upon making the horrific discovery, the friend went to a nearby bar to get help, and two individuals from the bar confirmed the scene before 911 was called.
Authorities found two of the deceased inside the home and two outside. Neighbors reported hearing what they thought were firecrackers earlier in the day, which was not uncommon given the proximity to the Fourth of July holiday. While the motive for the deadly rampage remains unclear, investigators noted there had been 'marital discord' between Randy and Anna Moore, although there were no prior reports of physical violence. The investigation concluded that Randy Moore was the sole perpetrator of the killings, and with his death, the case was closed.
