In the early morning hours of August 14, 2015, the quiet town of Ridgeville, South Carolina, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed two lives. Outside the Eight Ball Club, the bodies of 38-year-old Tyrone Cummings, a male resident of Ridgeville, and 32-year-old Debra Denise Farmer Bazzle were discovered lying in the street. Both had been fatally shot in what the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office quickly determined to be a double homicide.
The investigation into the tragic
deaths of Cummings and Bazzle led authorities to a single suspect, Quadrik Michael Sean Willis. Following his arrest, Willis was charged with the murders of both victims. The case against him proceeded to trial, where he was also convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a violent crime.
On October 11, 2017, a judge handed down a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for Willis, ensuring he would be held accountable for his actions. For the families of Tyrone Cummings and Debra Denise Farmer Bazzle, the conviction brought a measure of justice, though it could never erase the pain of their loss.
