On the evening of September 14, 2016, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Charleston police responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Columbus Street and Hanover Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 34-year-old Stephen Wayne Grant, Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
