In the early hours of October 7, 2016, the quiet of a Moncks Corner, South Carolina residence on Macio Road was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Inside, 52-year-old Harry Lee Gressette, a male, was fatally shot, becoming one of three victims in a tragic incident. Also killed were James Harrison, 62, and Lance Donovan Kenyon, 47.
When Berkeley County sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered a grim tableau.
A witness had been awakened by the gunshots and saw a man with a rifle. The armed individual, later identified as Robert David Nolen, who was 46 at the time, allegedly confessed to the witness, stating, 'I killed them all,' before firing more shots. Paradoxically, when law enforcement entered the residence, Nolen was found attempting to administer CPR to one of the victims. He then identified himself to the authorities as the suspect.
Nolen was promptly arrested at the scene and faced a litany of charges, including three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. He was also charged with threatening the life of a public official. The firearm believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes was recovered by investigators.
While a definitive motive for the deadly shooting remained unclear in the immediate aftermath, authorities suggested that alcohol may have been a contributing factor. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office undertook a thorough investigation, interviewing witnesses and processing the evidence gathered at the scene. The case then moved into the legal system, with Nolen facing the multiple murder charges brought against him.
