On November 9, 2018, 33-year-old Kori Karlton Capers, a Black/African American male, returned to his residence on Gulledge Street in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, after learning of a possible break-in. Upon arriving, he confronted armed intruders inside his home and was shot multiple times. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries eight days later, on November 17, 2018.
