In the summer of 2017, a young man's life was cut short in an act of violence that stemmed from a family dispute. Octavius Richardson, a 21-year-old Black male from Dillon, South Carolina, was fatally shot on July 5, 2017. The incident occurred in the Newtown community of Dillon, outside an apartment on McNeil Street.
