In the dark hours of July 20, 2017, Greenville County deputies were dispatched to a home on Hampton Avenue Extension after neighbors reported hearing gunshots. Shann David Goldsmith, 44, a Black / African American male, was found outside the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene, with the Greenville County Coroner identifying him as the victim.
