In the late afternoon sun of June 26, 2018, in Reevesville, South Carolina, 42-year-old Darren Elmore was riding his lawnmower in his backyard, a routine task on a summer day that would tragically be his last. A verbal altercation with his ex-wife, 29-year-old Ella LaQuarles Harrison-Elmore, escalated to a fatal conclusion. Armed with a shotgun, Harrison-Elmore shot her former husband, ending his life.
The male victim suffered from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding law enforcement.
Following the shooting, it was Harrison-Elmore herself who contacted 911. In the call, she informed the dispatcher that she had been arguing with her ex-husband.
