In the late summer evening of August 25, 2018, the life of 12-year-old Fantasia Shyann Jackson was tragically cut short in Timmonsville, South Carolina. A Black female, Fantasia had just returned from the local fair and was dropped off at her grandparents' home around 11:30 p.m. Moments later, as she ran for cover in the yard, she was struck by gunfire and killed. Her death was not a random act of violence but the culmination of a dispute that had begun earlier at a party.
