In a quiet neighborhood in Goose Creek, South Carolina, a domestic disturbance shattered the evening calm on November 10, 2018, leading to the tragic death of 37-year-old Rashad Renee Lesane Patton. Deputies from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a home on Samantha Way around 5 p.m. following a 911 call. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene in the front yard: Rashad Patton and her 44-year-old husband, Oslen Patton, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services transported Rashad Patton to a local hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal, and she succumbed to them later. Oslen Patton was pronounced dead at the scene. The subsequent investigation conducted by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office and the Coroner's Office concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide.
The coroner, Bill Salisbury, officially ruled Rashad Patton's death a homicide and Oslen Patton's death a suicide. Investigators determined that Oslen Patton had shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. As the perpetrator was deceased, there were no arrests to be made in connection with Rashad Patton's death. Her passing marked the fifth homicide in Berkeley County that year.
