Jamie Dale Smith, a 31-year-old resident of Easley, South Carolina, was found dead on March 17, 2019, in his pickup truck on Locust Hill Road in Travelers Rest. Smith had been shot in the head, and his death was ruled a homicide by the Greenville County Coroner's Office. The investigation revealed that Smith was lured to the location under the pretext of a drug deal. Upon arrival, he was ambushed and shot by Adam Thomas Byrum and Corina Veronica Castro.
