In the early morning hours of a late March day, a tragic event unfolded at a nightclub in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, that resulted in the death of 28-year-old Matthew Cobb Jr. of Hemingway. The incident, a shooting that broke out at TC's Lounge on Petigru Drive, also claimed the life of 28-year-old Tevin Washington of Georgetown and left a third individual wounded.
The Georgetown County Coroner's Office confirmed that Cobb succumbed to his injuries at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston at 7:05 a.m. on March 29, 2019, just hours after the shooting. Washington was pronounced dead earlier that morning at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
The shooting sent shockwaves through the community, prompting an intense investigation by law enforcement. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division the U.S. Marshals, and local police in Georgia, launched a search for the individual responsible for the double homicide. The investigation led them to another state, where they were able to locate and apprehend a suspect in the deadly nightclub shooting.
Less than a month after the fatal shooting, authorities announced a significant development in the case. Jarvis Jamison was taken into custody in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in connection with the deaths of Matthew Cobb Jr. and Tevin Washington. Jamison was wanted on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Following his capture, he awaited extradition back to Georgetown County to face the charges related to the nightclub shooting that cut two young lives short.
