In the summer of 2019, the life of Harold Caution Langley, a 26-year-old Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Known for his athletic abilities, especially in basketball, Langley was a beloved father, son, and brother with a promising future. On the evening of June 30, 2019, an apparent disagreement at a residence in Orangeburg escalated into a violent confrontation that would ultimately prove fatal for Langley.

Harold was shot multiple times. When deputies from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene, they found him severely injured and being prepared for surgery. Despite the immediate medical attention, the gravity of his wounds was too severe. Harold Lamont Langley succumbed to his injuries the following day, on July 1, 2019, leaving a community to mourn the senseless loss of a young life.
In the wake of the shooting, the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office quickly identified a suspect. Damion Shantell Mayers, 32 years old at the time, was taken into custody and faced a series of serious charges, including murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The investigation suggested that the fatal disagreement between Mayers and Langley was the catalyst for the tragic events that unfolded. The legal proceedings against Mayers commenced, aiming to bring a measure of justice for Harold's untimely and violent death.
