In the small town of Latta, South Carolina, a community was shaken by the violent death of 17-year-old Trevon Marques Frierson, a Black male, on the evening of May 5, 2020. Known for his friendly nature, the Latta High School student also worked at a local McDonald's. His life, full of promise, was abruptly ended in a burst of gunfire at the Southside Apartments, an event that would leave a lasting scar on the town.
