William Terrence Tyrill Wallace, a 25-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on April 26, 2021, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The events leading to his death began to unfold around 11 a.m. when Myrtle Beach police were dispatched to an apartment on Cedar Street. Initially, the call was for a reported overdose, but upon arrival, officers discovered Wallace unconscious on the apartment steps. It was soon realized that he had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.

Wallace was immediately transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later. The initial 911 call was made by a woman who lived at the residence. She informed police that she had left to go to a store and returned about an hour later to find Wallace unresponsive.

The investigation into the shooting death of Wallace, who was a resident of the Myrtle Beach area, quickly transitioned into a homicide investigation. Through the use of surveillance footage, witness statements, and physical evidence, investigators were able to identify a suspect.

Two days after the shooting, on April 28, 2021, police arrested 26-year-old Ernest Elijah Lesesne in connection with Wallace's death. Lesesne was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Following his arrest, Lesesne appeared before a magistrate judge; however, a bond was not set at that time.
