Ariel Mikeyuna Beeks, a 23-year-old female, was tragically killed on June 28, 2021, in Greenwood, South Carolina. Born on November 26, 1997, she was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and an employee at the Diana Pet food plant. She was a mother to a young daughter.
In the early morning hours, Beeks and her friend, 22-year-old Kyndall Ayanna Curry, were discovered deceased inside a parked car on Jones Street. Both women had been shot and killed while they were talking in the vehicle.
Neighbors reported hearing an argument followed by the sound of gunshots.
The investigation into the double homicide led Greenwood police to arrest Cassius Broadwater. Authorities stated that there had been ongoing domestic issues between Broadwater and Beeks, with whom he shared a child. This has been suggested as a possible motive for the killings.
Broadwater was taken into custody and charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Ariel Beeks and Kyndall Curry. He was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center to await legal proceedings.
